Halikos Awarded Redevelopment Contract for Kurringal Site

Halikos Group Media Statement 15 May 2015

John Halikos and Shane Dignan Directors of the Halikos Group are pleased to have been awarded the contract to redevelop the 1.7 hectare parcel of land at the old Kurringal flats site in Fannie Bay.

Managing Director Shane says the Agreement for Sale, Development and Lease is significant.

“This is the culmination of a rigorous EOI process with the government and means demolition work can begin, paving the way for construction of the modern and stylish apartment complex,” says Mr Dignan.

“Halikos prides itself on excellence, integrity and the ability to get major projects done on time and on budget,” says Mr Dignan.

“We believe this achievement reflects our extensive capabilities, which have seen this locally owned, award-winning company evolve into the Territory’s largest and most trusted.”

The Halikos redevelopment proposal features a modern apartment complex, which will seamlessly blend in with and enhance the Fannie Bay lifestyle. Construction is expected to be complete by 2017.

“Our hard working team working across our development and construction divisions dedicate significant time, passion and energy into EOI proposals, and I congratulate them on today’s result.”

We will now proceed to lodge our development submission to the Development Consent Authority and will immediately implement comprehensive public consultation over its proposal.

Demolition is expected to begin mid June.

We look forward to sharing our vision for this state of the art redevelopment with local residents, and invite them to have their say on this timely housing project, which will relieve housing pressure for key workers.”

The Halikos Group currently employs more than 350 direct permanent staff, plus contractors, and is focused on reinvesting profits back into the Northern Territory economy
